Everyone knows Google, the search engine. But, not everyone is up to speed on using Google+. Google+ is a social media platform, so a lot of what you do on Facebook can translate to your Google+ profile. The layout is relatively simple and is reminiscent of previous versions of your "wall" on Facebook.
A major difference between the two platforms is the method of building your audience. On Facebook, you would increase your number of fans or friends. One Google+ you want to expand your "circle". It is highly customizable in that you can put people into certain, custom made circles. Also, it arranges your audience by friends, family, and acquaintances.
For both recruiters and A&PAs, you can craft your posts for Google+ similar to your Facebook posts. Include text and a picture, like this:

You can see the post looks very similar to a Facebook post. The +1 button functions as Facebook's like button and the arrow functions as the share button.
Also, you can add a hashtag to your post (in this case, #paratroopers) to categorize your post. So it shares that function with Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
